Vijayawada: The 5 crore worth beautification works initiated by the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) at the Benz Circle flyover continues to progress at snail’s pace due to inadequate availability of mud required to plant saplings and earth filling.
Speaking to TOI, VMC executive engineer (Parks) T Chandra Sekhar said, “The municipal corporation has taken up beautification works from Ramavarappadu to Skew Bridge stretch along the Benz Circle flyover. We have taken steps to develop greenery, including the development of vertical gardens, landscaping, earth filling, fountains, and erecting fencing protection along the proposed stretch to prevent saplings and greenery from getting damaged.”
The EE added that about 50% of works worth 2.5 crore, out of 5 crore, were completed and the pending works would be completed in time subject to the availability of mud.
The official said that the municipal corporation has written a letter to the district collector seeking adequate supply of mud for the faster completion of beautification works, particularly at the Benz Circle area.
