Hyderabad:The Metro Rail from Shamshabad airport to the Future City will ply at the road level for 18 km from Raviryala to Young India Skill University at Meerkhanpet, according to the draft detailed project report (DPR). The track will be flanked by a proposed road between the two destinations.
The government has finalised the draft of the 40-km Metro Rail route for Future City, connecting the Shamshabad Airport (RGIA) to Mucherla via Mansanpally Road.
Speaking about the alignment, officials said that the Metro Rail, which starts at RGIA, will cross the Outer Ring Road (ORR) after 4.1 km at Pedda Golconda. From there, it will traverse through the Tukkuguda ORR exit. The track from RGIA to Tukkuguda will be 8.8 km long.
From Tukkuguda, which houses several villa projects and newly developed residential colonies, the Metro Rail will connect to Raviryala, covering another 5.5 km. From RGIA to Raviryala, the track will be an elevated corridor.
From Raviryala, the Metro Rail will travel at ground level for 18 kms on a proposed greenfield road. The Metro Rail track will be developed in the middle of this road, and will connect to Young India Skill University at Meerkhanpet Village in Kandukur mandal.
Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited managing director N.V.S. Reddy said that the DPR will be finalised by the end of March and sent to the government for approval.
“By the end of May, we will submit the DPR to the Centre. As per the instructions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the work is progressing on a war footing,” N.V.S. Reddy told Deccan Chronicle.
