A total of 448 petitions were received from tribal people and the representatives of various Adivasi organisations at the Nagoba Darbar, the annual grievance redressal meeting, held as part of the ongoing Nagoba Jatara in Keslapur village of Adilabad district on Friday.
Of these, as many as 337 petitions were related to the implementation of the Economic Support Schemes (ESS) by the Telangana State Scheduled Tribes Co-operative Finance Corporation Ltd. (TRICOR).
The traditional grievance redressal meeting was held at the jatara site in line with the practice in vogue for decades. In 1942, a ‘darbar’ involving scores of Adivasis was held under the aegis of Austrian anthropologist Christoph von Furer Haimendorf, sources said.
At the darbar held in Keslapur on Friday, members of various Adivasi organisations sought strict implementation of the Land Transfer Regulation Act, 1959, (Amendment 1/1970) Act and other laws governing the Agency areas in the erstwhile Adilabad district.
Petitions pertaining to Giri Vikasam scheme, RoFR, Medical and Health were also received on the occasion.
Mesram clan Adivasi elders, Adilabad Collector Rajarshi Shah, Superintendent of Police Gaush Alam and others spoke.
The officials of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Utnoor, and other allied government departments were among those present.
Sources said that 499 of the total 594 petitions received at the annual darbar in the previous year were resolved so far. Efforts are on to dispose of the remaining grievance petitions in a couple of days, ITDA sources added.
