Despite a massive marketing push that united the Three Khans of the Hindi film industry at the premiere, the romantic comedy Loveyapa is struggling to find an audience at the box office. The film earned just Rs 44 lakh from its morning shows on opening day, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The same platform reported that Badass ravikumara pastiche film starring Himesh Reshammiya, made nearly Rs 90 lakh from its morning shows. The movie isn’t relying on a multi-city promotional tour, but on its tongue-in-cheek marketing material.
Sacnilk reported that Loveyapa saw a 5.6% occupancy rate on Friday morning, while Badass Ravikumar delivered a 13% occupancy rate. Loveyapa has 402 screenings in Mumbaiand around 590 in the Delhi-NCR region. Badass Ravikumar, on the other hand, has 411 screenings in Mumbai and 540 in the Delhi-NCR region. Occupancy for Loveyapa in Mumbai stood at 7%, while Badass Ravikumar saw an occupancy of 18% in Mumbai. The number one film this weekend is poised to be Thandel. Starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, the film has made Rs 4 crore-plus from the morning shows.
In ChennaiLoveyapa delivered a 0% occupancy from 10 shows, while Badass Ravikumar’s lowest occupancy (o%) also came from Chennai. Himesh’s action-comedy saw its best occupancy of 18% in Mumbai, while the romantic comedy, delivered its best occupancy of 7% in Mumbai and Jaipur. Loveyapa also features Khushi Kapoor and Ashutosh Rana, while Badass Ravikumar also features Sanjay Mishra and Sunny Leone. This is Reshammiya’s first starring role since 2020’s Happy Hardy and Heer. Before that, he starred in films such as Aap Kaa Surroor, Karzzz, Teraa Surroor, and The Expose.
Junaid Khan, the son of Aamir khanmade his acting debut with the Netflix film Maharaj. Khushi, the daughter of Sridevi, made her acting debut in the Netflix film The Archies. Loveyapa marks their theatrical debut. The movie has received negative reviews, with the Indian Express’ Shubhra Gupta writing“It doesn’t help that Junaid Khan, while being perfectly pleasant, doesn’t possess much of an edge: maybe that kind of personable-but-unremarkable fellow is just what this movie needed, but there really isn’t much sizzle he creates with Khushi Kapoor, who’s got a little more going on in the personality department.”
