Hyderabad: Expressing concern over court orders on illegal construction not being implemented, Justice CV Bhaskar Reddy of the Telangana high court on Friday wondered if he has to invoke the HC’s discretionary powers to direct the central govt to ensure execution of judicial orders. The judge expressed his concern as the status report was submitted by officials after considerable effort from the court since Feb 2023.
The judge was hearing contempt pleas by M Yadaiah of Gachibowli and S Gopal of Mani Nagar accusing municipal officials of not stopping construction and failure to implement the status quo order in force on 42 acres in survey numbers 51 to 53 of Gachibowli in Serilingampally mandal of Rangareddy district.
Though two zonal commissioners of GHMC filed the status report claiming that the site was inspected and all construction stopped, the petitioners questioned its veracity, pointing out that structures continued to crop up in the area without permissions.
The judge summoned GHMC and HMDA officials and sought a report from the zonal commissioners of GHMC covering Gachibowli area by March 7, while directing them to remove all illegal structures by then. He also said that HYDRAA must take care of such illegal structures.
