Launching a broadside against the Congress government in Telangana, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay accused the ruling dispensation of deliberately reducing the Backward Classes’ population percentage in caste enumeration and adding Muslims to the BC list.

Mr. Sanjay on Saturday participated in a rally titled ‘Pattabhadrula Sankalpa Yatra’ to drum up support for BJP candidates C. Anji Reddy and M. Komraiah for the biennial elections to the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates’ Constituency and Teachers’ Constituency, respectively.

Addressing the rally, Mr. Sanjay alleged that adding Muslims to the BC list is part of a larger conspiracy to suppress BCs. “This move would jeopardise the chances of the Hindu society winning in BC-reserved constituencies in the future,” Mr. Sanjay said, citing the results of the previous elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). “Why are BC organisations silent in the face of such injustice when BC population numbers are being manipulated?” he questioned.

Training his guns at the BRS, he alleged that the BRS did not field an MLC candidate because of a secret deal with the ruling Congress.

He accused the ruling Congress of not fulfilling its promises, including ₹4,000 monthly unemployment allowance, ₹5 lakh education assurance card for students, and so on. “The Congress drew a blank in the Delhi elections,“ he said showing a banner of ‘Gadida guddu’ (donkey’s egg) replica. The Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre is fulfilling the 10 lakh job recruitment pledge, he said, noting that the Centre granted ₹12.75 lakh (for salaried) in tax exemptions.
