Not Modi, Congress Digging Its Own Grave!

The Grand Old Party, Congress has no more grandeur left. The party sat in the Opposition for three elections and is still not learning its lessons.

Congress showed signs of learning when Rahul Gandhi did Bharat Jodo Yatra across the country. And then, there was a tall talk in the name of INDI Alliance.

The party showed signs of a little revival when it first crossed 100 seats in the recent elections.

While the 100 seats are still nothing, it is a sign of some revival, and also the BJP was locked away from the Magic number.

Congress Party gave another state to the BJP just out of Ego. The party was too demanding in the seat-sharing with AAP and contested independently in Delhi.

The result was that the BJP came to power in the state after 27 years.

Congress drew a blank in this election but seriously damaged AAP.

A narrow 2.28% swing in votes helped BJP win Delhi while Congress secured a vote share of 6.34% with zero seats.

As many as 13 constituencies where Congress candidates got more votes than the gap between BJP and AAP.

Had AAP and Cong fought together, several more seats might have seen a neck-and-neck fight in Delhi and the result may be different as well.

It is next to impossible for Congress to win independently over the BJP. The party has to empower the allies in states it is weak.

We have seen Congress being too demanding in many states and then going alone. In all such situations, the BJP only ran over those states.

BJP had more states in its kitty and Congress is left with no friends.

If the lesson is not learned even now, Congress will have to sit one more term in the Opposition in 2029.

Meanwhile, after the BJP won Delhi, the number of INDIA bloc governments in the country has come down to eight while the BJP-led NDA alliance now has 21 states/Union Territories.

It makes it easier for the BJP to push ambitious bills like One Nation, One Poll, and Uniform Civil Code.

This is a big blow for the Congress but with the opposition states in decline, the BJP may face less resistance in the implementation of the Bill.
