Sanam Teri Kasam box office collection: Romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane in the lead roles, returned to theaters on Friday after nine years and has already become a winner. The film, which was a box office failure in 2016, has unexpectedly become a hit during its second run on the big screen. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie’s two-day earnings have already surpassed its original lifetime collection of Rs. 8 crore.
Sanam Teri Kasam earned Rs. 4.25 crore on Day 1 of its re-release, more than three times its original opening day box office collection. On Day 2, the film saw a significant jump of around 15%, grossing Rs. 5 crore, bringing its total collection to Rs. 9.50 crore.
The impressive numbers are likely due to the film’s massive popularity on OTT and television. Recently, several Bollywood films, such as Laila Majnu and Tumbbad, have seen successful second runs after underperforming in their initial releases, with Sanam Teri Kasam now joining the list.
In a recent interview with SCREEN, Harshvardhan Rane opened up about the movie’s re-release and its original lifetime numbers. He said, “I hope it does what it didn’t do earlier, that’s it. Kya feel karoon main? Everyone was asking me everywhere to bring this film back. The only anecdote I remember is that we all were expecting this film to do much better than what it did. That void has pushed me today to request everyone to release this. Nau saal hogaye hain (It has been nine years), every year they keep losing faith, but my faith keeps increasing. When it didn’t perform well, we all (the producers, director, actors) felt that pain, a tug in the heart.”
