Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asked members of the Scheduled Castes (SC) communities, Madiga community in particular, to take their objections and problems if any on the SC categorisation to the attention of the Cabinet sub-committee constituted for the purpose as well as the judicial commission.

The Chief Minister made this suggestion to a delegation of Madiga community, led by Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) founder Manda Krishna, which called on him in Hyderabad on Tuesday (February 11, 2025). Mr. Krishna appreciated the Chief Minister’s commitment to fulfil the promise of classification of SC sub castes. He explained Mr. Reddy about the challenges faced in classification of SC sub castes and said he would stand by the government and the Chief Minister till the process was completed.

The Chief Minister asserted that the State government was committed to render justice to the Madiga community and other sub-castes under SC without any political considerations. He briefed the delegation about the discussions held on the issue in the Assembly followed by the constitution of Cabinet panel and judicial commission to expedite the classification.

He said that the official process taken up by the government helped in avoiding legal implications for classification of SC sub-castes. The delegation members recalled how Mr. Reddy fought for a resolution in favour of SC classification in the Assembly when he was in the Opposition.
