New-Gen Hyundai Creta Hybrid In the Works

Hyundai Creta is the star performer of the South Korean automaker in India. The midsize SUV was first launched in 2015 and received first midlife update in 2018, which was followed by a generational shift in 2020 and a facelift in 2024. Aiming to further boost its sales, Hyundai Motor India will introduce a new-generation model in 2027. Details of the new-gen Hyundai Creta are scanty at this point of time. Let’s take a look at all key information we know so far and what we can expect from the all-new Creta.

Why Hybrid?

Codenamed SX3, the new-gen Hyundai Creta is expected to arrive with the strong hybrid powertrain. Previous media reports have stated that the South Korean automaker aims to introduce hybrid vehicles in India, while expanding its electric product lineup. The upcoming hybrid range is likely to include Verna, Creta, Alcazar and Tucson.

The reason behind the shift towards hybrid technology is most likely the upcoming BS7 emission norms, which are set to be implemented in 2027. The cost of upgrading diesel engines to meet the new emission standard will be even higher than it was for the BS6 upgrade. Therefore, the hybrid technology will make sense for the midsize vehicles to remain competitive.

More Features, Improved Design:

The current-generation Hyundai Creta is one of the well-equipped and premium vehicles in its category. With the generational shift, its material quality and equipment levels will further be enhanced. Major design changes are also expected.

Creta Electric Facelift Launch Timeline:

The report further states that the Hyundai Creta Electric will also receive its first midlife update in 2027. The electric SUV went on sale last month at a starting price of Rs 17.99 lakh. The lineup comes in five trims – Executive, Smart, Smart (O), Premium and Excellence.
