The Maharashtra cyber police have summoned comedian Tanmay Bhatt, actor Rakhi Sawant, internet personality Uorfi Javed, actor Siddhant Chaturvedi, social media celebrity Deepak Kalal and others in connection with the FIR registered over Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial question on comedian Samay Raina’s ‘India’s Got Latent’ show.
A senior police officer confirmed the development to The Indian Express. The officer said that among those summoned were other popular YouTubers, comedians and influencers who participated in Raina’s show as judges.
Comedians Amit Tandon, Neeti Palta, Maheep Singh, Ashish Solanki, Vipul Goyal, Nishant Tanwar, Sonali Thakker, Bharti Singh, Haarsh Limbachiyaa, POONAM PANDEYetc. have appeared on Raina’s show.
A controversy broke out over an episode of ‘India’s Got Latent’ after Allahbadia asked a contestant: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to stop it forever?”
Following the uproar over the viral clip of the episode, Sanmati Pandey, 38, a Santacruz resident and a subscriber of Raina’s show, lodged a complaint. Following this, the Maharashtra cyber police had on Monday registered an FIR against Allahbadia, content creator Ashish Chanchlani, influencer Apoorva Mukhija, the show’s creator (Samay Raina) and others for allegedly making obscene content and broadcasting it on YouTube.
The police invoked Section 67 (transmission of obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act and sections 79, 196, 296, 299 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The police have booked 30 people, including artists, hosts, judges, participants, organisers and others, over the obscene and foul language allegedly used during the show. The FIR also mentioned how a participant in the show stated that people in Arunachal Pradesh eat dogs.

Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta biswa sarma announced on social media that Allahbadia, Raina and others were booked in his state on Monday.
Maharashtra Women’s Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar said, “We received a complaint and have instructed the police department to stop the show’s telecast and immediately take necessary action as per Indian laws and submit a report to the commission.”
The Mumbai police, conducting an inquiry into the matter, have summoned Allahbadia, Raina, Mukhija, Singh, Chanchlani and other artists who were present in the show. Chanchlani and Mukhija have already recorded their statement before the police.
