Hyderabad police nabs 2 chicken shop owners for selling noxious chicken

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police along with the sanitary officers from Secunderabad cantonment conducted raids at two chicken shops at Anna Nagar and Arjun Nagar in Begumpet and seized noxious chicken.

As many as 600 kg of frozen and stored noxious chicken wastage and bones were seized from the possession of the arrested persons identified as M. Bhasker, 34, owner of SSS chicken shop in Arjun Nagar in Rasoolpura and Botta Raveendar, 24, owner of Ravi chicken shop in Anna Nagar in Balamrai.

Task Force Deputy Commissioner of Police, YVS Sudheendra, said that both Bhaskar and Raveendar hatched a plan to sell chicken wastage and bones by storing them up to several months and allegedly sell to needy fast food centers and wine shops at lower prices than market price.

The duo selected fast food centers as they mix chicken with artificial colurs and Ajinomoto to make chicken colourful and tasty to attract more customers. Since Bhaskar and Raveendar were freezing chicken wastage and bones to a long time, it became noxious creating health hazards to the people who ate such chicken.

The DCP appealed to the general public to be cautious while purchasing chicken in unhygienic checking merchants, check prior ordering chicken at fast food centers, be more cautious while eating chicken at adjacent shops at wine shops and any suspicion arises over chicken vendors immediately dial ‘100’ or call local police or GHMC officials for assistance.
