Hyderabad: Animal charity Humane Society International India announced its rebrand to Humane World for Animals India to clarify its mission to end animal suffering and underscore the organization’s impact on animal protection– in India and globally.
For more than 30 years globally and for more than a decade in India, Humane World for Animals – formerly called Humane Society International—has worked to tackle the root causes of animal cruelty and suffering. To convey the organization’s scope and bold work to end animal cruelty, it is aligning with its U.S.-based counterpart, Humane Society of the United States, under one new name and logo that communicates its global, all-animal focus.
To celebrate the new chapter of the organization, at an event held in Hyderabad on Saturday, the name and the logo were unveiled by Amala Akkineni, noted animal welfare advocate and actor.
“My journey with animal welfare started when I was six years. From stopping the wildlife in circus to talking to laboratories where they experiment on animals – my life would not have been worth if it wasn’t for this work we do together and the changes we bring together,” she said.
Alokparna Sengupta, managing director of Humane World for Animals India, said, “Our vision for India is to create a humane future for animals, a world that’s better for people as well.”
