Vijayawada: Education Minister Nara Lokesh has said the AP government has signed a pact with the Sulochana Devi Singhania School Trust to enhance educational skills for youths in the state.

This endeavour is part of our efforts to achieve the National Education Policy’s objectives. The memorandum of understanding was signed by state representatives with the Singhania Group in the presence of Lokesh in Undavalli on Tuesday.

“Our aim is to make the state’s academic sector the number-one in the country,” Lokesh said, adding that radical changes will be introduced in the curriculum from KG to PG, with emphasis on creativity, to achieve this goal.

The skills are being developed in such a way that a student coming out of college and completing graduation should get immediate employment, he said.

The thrust, initially, will bring in changing the style of functioning of 14 schools in Tirupati district, after assessing the skills of the teachers, the quality of their spoken English and linking the technology with the existing academic system. Over one lakh students are expected to get the benefits of better educational standards through this scheme, which would be implemented in a span of five years.

The educational trust will later extend its services to Amaravati, Visakhapatnam and Kakinada.

Gouatham Hari Singhania, chairman of the Singhania Group, said the main objective of the trust is to make students skillful by imparting them with the most advanced technology. Also, as part of this exercise, the efficiency of the teachers too to be improved to enable them to give quality education to their students, he said.

Training centres for teachers will be set up in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Amaravati. “Priority is being accorded to improve the English proficiency of students,” Singhania said.

Director of the Singhania Group of Schools, Revathi Srinivasan, said the main aim of this project is to introduce the best global standards to the local schools. Independent director of Raymonds, K Narasimha Murthy, the CFO Naveen Sarma, and several heads of the Singhania Group were present.
