Working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K.T. Rama Rao has observed that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is showing more concern about real estate business than to the problems being faced by different sections of people in the State.

Speaking at a Rythu Mahadharna organised by the party at Amangal in Kalwakurthy Assembly Constituency on Tuesday, he alleged that the Congress party had come to power by promising the moon to all sections of people but had failed to live up to the pre-poll promises. The Chief Minister had neither done justice to Kodangal constituency represented by him nor his native Kalwakurthy constituency, he said.

Mr. Revanth Reddy had promised to implement crop loan waiver up to ₹2 lakh to every farmer who has outstanding dues with banks, but had failed to implement it completely even 14 months after coming to power. Similarly, he had promised ₹7,500 per acre of investment support to farmers for two crop seasons every year but had failed to give even the pruned amount of ₹6,000 per acre to even 10% of the landholding farmers.

The fate of ₹12,000 a year assistance to farmworkers was not known so as the ₹2,500 per month assistance to women, 10 grams gold each to girls from poor families along with ₹1 lakh financial assistance on their marriage under Kalyana Laxmi/Shadi Mubarak, enhancement of social security pension from ₹2,000 per month to ₹4,000 a month, to name a few. Even the bonus to paddy had not been given to a majority of farmers.

The distress being caused to the farming community due to government policies had led to suicide of 430 farmers already since December 2023 and another 56 students of residential educational institutions had ended lives or died due to food poisoning, snakebites and unhygienic conditions. He alleged that Mr. Revanth Reddy had deceived backward classes in the name of caste survey to benefit politically in the local bodies’ elections.

Mr. Rama Rao alleged that Mr. Reddy’s family had bought huge tracts of land after the elections and was planning to lay wide roads to improve the real estate value for those lands. Party leaders P. Sabhitha Indra Reddy, S. Vani Devi, G. Jaipal Yadav, R.S. Praveen Kumar, T. Rajaiah, S. Niranjan Reddy and several others participated.
