The test drive that helped me finalise Skoda Kylaq as my next car

Having seen so many people talk about the lesser than optimal rear legroom, I had to see it for myself. I’m 6ft (183cm) and didn’t see rear legroom as a big issue.

Leochakraborthy recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

I made the booking for Signature+ AT (Olive Gold), on the day when number of bookings breached 10K. Simple set of conditions from the family: budget is 15L on-road, big NO for Sedans from my better half, color must be son’s choice. We already have an Ertiga for long trips and this will be used as a replacement for our 10yr old Swift for weekend getaways. A big fan of VW Polo, after having driven the car quite a lot, Skoda’s TSI was almost always going to win me over, though I seriously considered Venue & 3XO. Having seen so many people talk about the lesser than optimal rear legroom, I had to see it for myself. I couldn’t get to the showrooms for 2 weeks after display vehicles were available. Got a call from dealers that car has been allotted and now I’ve to TD it before I decide to keep the booking or not. Did so last weekend and had pretty decent TD as well.

Visited PPS Mysore Road for the TD as I stay in the vicinity, though my booking is at Tafe Access HSR. Didn’t reveal this to them though. Kylaq was most sought after at the showroom, with at least 4 parties looking at the car and getting in-out when we reached, and 3 more while I was waiting for TD. It was approaching lunch time and people started leaving and we were almost left alone with the display car. Wife was delighted by the seats, front and rear. We really sit ‘in’ them. I’m 6ft (183cm) and didn’t see rear legroom as a big issue.

Driver’s seat at my driving position.

As I had waited for people to leave, could take a longer than usual TD (~5kms). Tried the different driving modes for decent stretches and start-stop traffic as well. As others here have pointed out, there is a slight lag when moving from standstill, but not a hindrance.

I’m definitely going to keep my booking and I’ve been informed to expect delivery in the coming week. Sales person from Tafe Access has OKed PDI and am expecting to check allotted car soon. Shall keep updating details here.
