Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are one of the best truly wireless earbuds in their price range, especially for Galaxy phone/tablet users, not just on paper but also in real-life performance, as we found in our review. Unfortunately, since the beginning, they have been suffering from quality control issues.
At first, we saw the ear tips tearing off easily. Then there was the high-pitched sound issue. People also reported problems with charging the earbuds. The brand addressed the first one, and the second problem isn’t a big deal. However, the third issue seems to be getting only worse day by day.
Galaxy Buds 3 Pro left/right earbud not charging
According to many users of the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, when they put the two earbuds in the charging case, one of them isn’t charging at all. Many users claim to have found the root cause. What’s concerning is that there seem to be more than one root cause. It suggests that there are severe quality control issues.
Before we discuss those, here are the signs which suggest that your Galaxy Buds 3 Pro suffer from the charging issue: the charging case’s light keeps blinking in orange color, the phone shows a notification that the earbuds aren’t charging, and the battery percentage of one of the earbuds’ remains the same.
Culprit 1: Foreign material on earbuds and inside charging case
Back in October, when people first started reporting the charging issue, Samsung suggested that the bottom of the earbuds, which houses the charging interface, may not be clean, or foreign material may have entered the charging case, causing the issue. The company asked people to clean the earbuds and the case to solve the problem.
Well, for some people who are still reporting that one of the earbuds isn’t charging properly, cleaning the bottom of the earbuds and the charging pins in the charging case is solving the problem. However, for others, the solution wasn’t so easy.
Culprit 2: Magnetic sensor to detect if the earbuds are in the case
According to one of the users, the issue with Galaxy Buds 3 Pro where one of the earbuds isn’t getting charged is being caused by the magnetic sensor for detecting when earbuds are in the case. They have also discovered a temporary solution for this problem.
According to them, you have to take the earbud very close to the case to make it think that the earbuds are inside. Once you do that, your phone should show you the ‘Earbud charging stopped‘ notification. You then have to repeat this process a couple of times, and then insert the earbuds inside the case. It allegedly solves the issues.
Culprit 3: Charging pins in the case burn
Another user who is facing the charging issue on their Galax Buds 3 Pro noticed that the charging pins in the case have melted. You can see the imprint of the burn on the bottom of the earbuds.
It suggests that either the earbuds, the charging case, or both of them are overheating during charging, causing the pins to melt, preventing them from charging the earbud.
Culprit 4: Software update
In October 2024, Samsung released a software update to the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. Some users who are facing the charging issue are reporting that the problem cropped up after installing the update.
If that is indeed the case, then it also means that Samsung could fix it with a software update. In fact, the brand has released an update to the product earlier this week in South Korea.
We hope that it solves the problem. Unfortunately, there’s still no information about when Samsung will release it in other regions around the globe. It carries version R530XXU0AYB3.
Samsung charging people to fix the issue
Unfortunately, for the remaining people, none of the solutions mentioned above are working. What’s even worse is that when they visit Samsung’s service centre, they are being told that water entered the case and damaged the product, and to fix the problem, they have to pay $180. Users claim that they haven’t taken the earbuds near the water.
Irrespective of the root cause, many users of the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro are facing issues with charging the earbuds. Such incidents will not only keep other people from buying it, but also make owners of the earbuds lose faith in the brand. We hope that Samsung fixes them free of charge because these seem like manufacturing issues rather than caused by users.
