Two babies reunited with families after being swapped at KGH | Vijayawada News

Visakhapatnam: Two mothers had to wait for several hours to meet their newborns after a shocking mix-up occurred at KG Hospital in Vizag city on Wednesday. Due to the alleged negligence of the hospital staff, the two babies were mistakenly interchanged.
According to reports, two pregnant women – one from Anakapalle district and the other from Krishna district – were admitted to KG Hospital. On Wednesday morning, the woman from Krishna district gave birth to a baby boy, while the woman from Anakapalle district delivered a baby girl. However, the staff at the obstetrics and gynecology department mistakenly swapped the babies after putting wrong tags on them.
When the families noticed that the babies had been swapped, they immediately raised an alarm and brought it to the hospital’s attention. Dr. P Shivananda, the superintendent of KG Hospital, promptly investigated the matter by reviewing the CCTV footage, which confirmed the mistake. Thankfully, the babies were quickly reunited with their rightful mothers.
To prevent such incidents in the future, Dr. Shivananda has formed an investigation team to look into the matter.
