Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was sympathetic towards key project proposals submitted by the Telangana govt, but it was Union coal minister G Kishan Reddy who was stopping their approval. He also blamed former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for the SLBC tunnel problem and said his govt had neglected it for 10 years..
The CM said that while KCR neglected Telangana’s development in his nearly 10-year govt and even allowed Andhra Pradesh to divert excess water from Krishna, now Kishan Reddy was undermining key state projects such as Metro rail expansion, Musi rejuvenation, among others, out of jealousy.
“Modi is not the problem for Telangana not getting Centre’s approvals for key projects. It is Kishan Reddy. I met PM Modi a few days back, and he was positive about the proposals we submitted to him for approval and funding of key projects. What I could assess from the meeting is that Modi is sympathetic towards our proposals. But Kishan Reddy is not only stopping project approvals but is also taking credit for those projects for Telangana, which the Centre gave approval, like the Mamnoor airport development,” Revanth said at a public meeting in Wanaparthy assembly constituency.
The CM laid foundation stones and inaugurated projects worth nearly Rs 1,000 crore, and also distributed another Rs 1,000 crore interest-free loans to women members of self-help groups.
“Let Kishan Reddy take the credit for Mamnoor airport, but if it is so, why is he not getting approvals for Metro rail, Musi, RRR and other irrigation projects? How can we trust Kishan Reddy’s claims that he is doing everything to support Telangana?” Revanth asked.
“Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka will soon hold a review with all Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs from the state from all the parties on the state govt’s proposed projects and funds needed for them. Later, let’s all go to the central govt together and demand funds,” he said.
Slamming the BRS govt, Revanth said SLBC collapsed after being neglected for 10 years.
“Isn’t this KCR’s fault? Why did KCR sit calmly when Andhra Pradesh started diverting water to Rayalaseema? Didn’t KCR call Jagan to Pragati Bhavan and allow Krishna water diversion by AP? It was KCR who said he would help in making Rayalaseema as Ratanala Seema after having lunch at YSR Congress leader Roja’s residence,” the CM said.
“It is KCR who signed the agreement allowing AP to get 512 tmc water share in Krishna, of the 811 tmc that sounded the death knell to the farmers of Telangana,” he alleged.
