Compact SUVs continue to dominate the Indian utility vehicle (UV) market, accounting nearly 48 percent of the top-selling models. This data shows consumers’ preference for compact SUV, driven by their easy urban manoeuvrability, practicality, and affordability. We already have multiple options in this segment; however, several new products are ready to join the bandwagon in the coming years. Talking about Hyundai, India’s second largest PV manufacturer has planned four new compact SUVs for India. Here’s a brief overview of the upcoming Hyundai compact SUVs.
New-Gen Hyundai Venue
The new-generation Hyundai Venue will be a major product launch from the South Korean carmaker in 2025. Noticeable changes will be made to its exterior and interior, while the engine setup will be carried forward from the current model. The updated Venue is likely to derive some design elements from the new Creta including the new front grille, headlamps and bumper. The compact SUV might also get new alloy wheels along with a redesigned tailgate and horizontally positioned connected taillamps. Inside, the 2025 Hyundai Venue might feature new switchgears, new steering wheel and seat upholstery.
Hyundai Instner Ev

The Hyundai Inster EV is one of the much-awaited upcoming Hyundai compact SUVs in India. This electric SUV will be introduced to compete against the Tata Punch EV. In global markets, the Inster EV comes with two battery packs – Standard 42kWh and Long Range 49kWh – promising a range of 300km and 355km, respectively. The India-spec model is expected to offer the same battery options.
Hyundai Bayon
Next on the list of upcoming Hyundai compact SUVs is the Hyundai Bayon, based on the i20 hatchback’s platform. This will Hyundai’s answer to the Maruti Fronx hybrid, which is due in the coming months. The global-spec Hyundai Bayon is available with a 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine boosted with a 48V mild hybrid technology. This setup comes in two states of tune – 99bhp with 175Nm and 118bhp with 175Nm. There are two gearboxes on offer – a 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed DCT automatic.

Following the Hyundai Creta Electric, the South Korean automaker plans to introduce three Made-in-India electric cars targeting the mass-market. Hyundai Motor India, however, has remained tight- lipped about these upcoming EVs. Reports suggest that one of them will be the Hyundai Venue EV, which is likely to arrive in 2027. Details are not available at this point in time.
