Tourists flocking to Sri Lanka: India again tops the list


This year (2023) information regarding the tourists who have visited Sri Lanka in the month of October has been released.

According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, more than one lakh tourists visited Sri Lanka last month.

According to the monthly statistics of Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, about 109,199 tourists have visited Sri Lanka from 01st to 31st October.

In the first place

This is a 159 percent increase compared to the October figure of last year (2022).

Apart from that, tourist arrivals of around 100,000 have been recorded in all months except May this year.

India holds the top spot in October with around 28,222 tourist arrivals.

Tourists flocking to Sri Lanka: India again tops the list

Russia is ranked second with 10,629 tourists, United Kingdom is third with 8,454 tourists, Germany is fourth with 7,548 tourists and China is fifth with 6,211 tourists.

Similarly, tourists from Australia, Maldives, France, America and Spain have also visited Sri Lanka.

Including the month of October, Sri Lanka has recorded a total of 1,125,455 tourist arrivals so far this year (2023), according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.
