4 Upcoming 7-Seater SUVs In 2025

The Indian SUV market is growing at a fast pace, catering to consumers looking for spacious, comfortable and modern features. With the aim to strengthening their market position, the leading OEMs such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra and Toyota are gearing up to launch their new models in this particular segment this year. Here’s a brief overview on the top 4 upcoming 7-seater SUVs or family cars slated to launch in 2025.

Upcoming 7-Seater SUVs in India

7-Seater Maruti Grand Vitara

The Indo-Japanese automaker has planned three major product launches for this year, including the e Vitara, Fronx hybrid and a 7-seater SUV based on the Grand Vitara. The upcoming 7-seater Maruti Grand Vitara will share its platform, design elements, interior and features along with powertrain with its 5-seater sibling. However, it will be longer and have an extra row of seat. Minor cosmetic changes are also expected such as the redesigned bumpers, new alloy wheels and updated headlamp and taillamp clusters. It could also be the brand’s second premium offering to come with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite. The powertrain setup of the 7-seater Maruti Grand Vitara will be the same 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid and 1.5L Atkinson strong hybrid.

7-SEATER TOYOTA HYRYDER

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is already selling the re-badged Maruti Grand Vitara as Toyota Hyryder. Similar to the Indo-Japanese automaker, Toyota will bring in the three-row version of the Hyryder towards the end of this year. The overall design and styling of the 7-seater Toyota Hyryder will be largely similar to its 5-seater version. Being a premium product, it might come with the improved material quality and fit and finish. In fact, the carmaker is likely to offer some extra features with this family SUV including the ADAS suite. For power, the new Toyota 7-seater will use the same 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid and 1.5L Atkison cycle strong hybrid powertrains, borrowed from the Hyryder.

Mahindra XUV700 Facelift

4 Upcoming 7-Seater SUVs In 2025

The Mahindra XUV700 is one of the top-selling SUVs from the home-grown automaker in India. Now, this SUV is all set to receive a major midlife update in the second half of 2025. The updated XUV700 is likely to come with slightly improved styling and interior, while retaining the same engine setup. Speculations suggest that the 2025 Mahindra XUV700 facelift will source some high-end features from the XEV 9e electric SUV including a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, an augmented reality-based HUD (Head-up display) and a triple screen setup. No changes will be made under the hood. The SUV will continue to feature the 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L diesel engines with two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.

Mahindra Xev 7e

Mahindra & Mahindra will also drive in the electric version of the XUV700 in late 2025. This electric SUV is likely to be named ‘Mahindra Xev 7e’. As of now, there is no official word on its powertrain. However, the electric XUV700 is likely to share the 59kWh and 79kWh battery packs with the born-electric Mahindra XEV 9e. The smaller battery pack delivers a claimed range of 542km (MIDC), while the bigger battery promises 656km on a full charge. It’s likely to come with the optional AWD (all-wheel drive) system. The Mahindra XEV 7e will look slightly different from its ICE counterpart, featuring some EV-specific design elements.
