The BJP-led union government’s move to pave the red carpet for the Hindi language through delimitation has ignited a storm in the Dravidian state of Tamil Nadu. The state’s chief minister, MK Stalin, several DMK leaders, and several film stars opposed the centre’s move to impose Hindi on Tamils.
Film star and Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, who came to power with the help of the BJP and TDP alliance, came down heavily on Tamils who are opposing Hindi. Addressing a huge crowd at Janasena Jayakethanam last night, Pawan Kalyan said, “If you don’t want Hindi in your state, then don’t dub your Tamil movies in Hindi and release them in the North. If you don’t want Hindi in your state, why do you release your movies in Hindi states and want their money?”
Pawan Kalyan also said that India is a union of numerous languages, cultures, and religions. He blasted the Tamil Nadu government and those opposing the three-language policy and delimitation. While Pawan Kalyan’s comments are sure to invite a political storm, the Tamil Nadu leaders and celebrities are yet to react to his views on this burning issue.
