Vijayawada: A comprehensive city master plan for Visakhapatnam will be finalised within four months, municipal administration and urban development minister P Narayana announced on Friday. The plan, designed with a 30-year vision, aims to address key urban challenges and foster sustainable development, the minister said.
During a meeting with Visakhapatnam city legislators, Narayana sought their input to ensure the master plan reflects local priorities. Legislators raised concerns about road widening, traffic congestion, the metro rail project, land encroachment, drinking water shortages, TDR bonds, and underground drainage systems. Narayana said the previous YSRCP govt’s master plan, criticised for ignoring public demands, will be revised to prioritise community feedback. The updated plan will be accessible online for public review.
Key initiatives include road expansions to accommodate the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport, integration of the metro rail project, and a special drive on TDR bonds. Narayana also pledged to address drinking water issues in collaboration with chief minister Chandrababu Naidu.
