Boxers eye chance to fight on Battleship Massachusetts in August

FALL RIVER — The Boston Boxing Promotions has formally announced that the “Fall River Fight Night” will be held this coming Saturday, March 29 at the CYO building at 403 Anawan Street.
Nine fights are on the card, beginning at 7 p.m.
In the main event, Fall River’s Kyle Cusick (6-3, 2 KO’s) takes on Maine’s Steven Kirkwood (3-1, 3 KOs) in a six-round middleweight fight. Cusick last fought in November, scoring a second-round technical knockout over Mexico’s Julio Buitrago.
Most recently, Kirkwood earned a second round TKO over New York’s Jay Gregory, who lost two competitive decisions previously to Cusick.
In a heavyweight contest, Fall River’s Jon Gruber (6-2, 2 KO’s) meets Maine’s Liam Harriman (1-0). This will mark the first time Gruber has ever fought in his hometown as a professional. Harriman has vowed to knock him out in his hometown.
Fall River’s Ricky Jordan (1-0), a paraprofessional at nearby Greater New Bedford Voch-Tech High School, meets Milford’s Jonathan Delgado (3-0-1, 3 KO’s) in a matchup of undefeated welterweights.
Also featured is Fall River’s Chriss Aiello (2-0, 2 KO’s) and Axel Lopez (1-0, 1 KO) in separate fights respectively, and the pro debut of Plainville’s Alex Nineve, who trains at Bernardo’s Boxing in Fall River.
