HYDERABAD: A priest in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district was sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court on Wednesday in connection with the murder of murder of an aspiring actress.
This verdict came in connection with a case filed in Shamshabad in June 2023. Iyyagari Venkata Sai Krishna was found guilty of murdering Apsara, dumping her body in a septic tank, and covering it with mud using tippers.
The two had met when Apsara visited the temple where Sai Krishna worked, and they later became romantically involved. Despite being married, Sai Krishna’s relationship with Apsara continued, and she pressured him to marry her.
Unable to tolerate her demands, he decided to kill her. He lured her under the pretense of taking her to a pilgrimage center, but instead, he drove her to Shamshabad, where he murdered her.
Later, Sai Krishna drove back to the city with her body in the boot of his car. He dumped her body in a septic tank near his house in Saroor Nagar and sealed it.
Subsequently, Sai Krishna filed a missing person report, claiming that Apsara had gone missing after he dropped her off at Shamshabad, where she supposedly boarded a bus for a trip with friends. However, further investigation revealed inconsistencies in his story, leading to his interrogation, during which he confessed to the crime.
