Hyderabad: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal have announced that the annual Veera Hanuman Vijaya Yatra will be conducted on April 12 to mark Hanuman Jayanti. The procession will start from Gowliguda Hanuman temple and conclude at Tadband Hanuman temple. Organisers have urged the Hindu community to participate in large numbers to make it a grand success.
Addressing a press conference, VHP state president Narasimha Murthy, prachar pramukh Pagudakula Balaswamy and Bajrang Dal state convener Shivaramulu called on the state government to ensure adequate police deployment for the smooth conduct of the rally. They expressed concerns that certain elements might attempt to create trouble under the pretext of the new Wakf Amendment Bill.
Central govt. Pensioners to protest against recent amendment to pension rules
Hyderabad: Central government pensioners across the country are set to protest against a recent amendment to pension rules passed as part of the Finance Bill in the Lok Sabha.
The National Coordination Committee of Pensioners’ Organisations (NCCPA) has announced that protests will be held at various locations, including a demonstration at Kendriya Sadan in Koti, Hyderabad.
Pensioners allege that the new amendment allows the government to categorise pensioners based on their retirement dates, potentially affecting the uniform implementation of Pay Commission benefits.
HMDA invites students, artists to create art installations on life of BR Ambedkar
Hyderabad: The HMDA has invited students and artists to create art installations inspired by the life and achievements of Dr B.R. Ambedkar. The best three installations will receive cash prizes and be displayed permanently in the museum.
Twenty shortlisted teams will receive a grant to cover materials and production costs. These teams will have four days, from April 10 to 13, to install their artwork at the venue.
Candidates must submit an expression of interest (EOI) by April 7 at hciphmda@gmail.com. The submission should include a 200-word concept note, team details. Students should provide details of their faculty mentor and institution.
All participating teams will receive a certificate of participation and the winners will be announced on April 14, Dr Ambedkar Jayanti.
TGBIE invites online applications for extension of provisional affiliation
Hyderabad: The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has issued a notification inviting online applications for the extension of provisional affiliation which includes the sanction of additional sections, for 2025-26. Applications will open from April 5, and the last date to apply without late fee is April 4.
Junior colleges, including composite colleges, may apply online using Form-II. Institutions can seek permission for a maximum of four original and five additional sections as per GO Ms 12 dated March 9, 2002. Proposals lacking the required accommodation will be rejected, and mandatory documents such as the FDR, lease deed, fire safety and sanitary certificates, and teaching staff details must be uploaded.
The board clarified that any unauthorised opening of new sections will attract penalties and possible disaffiliation under the Telangana Education Act. A public list of affiliated colleges and their sanctioned courses will be published before the academic session begins.
Affiliation and inspection fees vary based on the college’s location, and GST at 18 per cent is applicable. Payments must be made online; manual submissions through demand drafts or challans will not be accepted. Requests for shifting college premises within the same locality or changes in college name, society, or co-educational status must be submitted along with the application. Such requests will not be accepted after June 8.
Telangana: Junior Colleges to reopen for new academic year on June 2
Hyderabad: The Board of Intermediate Education said junior colleges would reopen for the new academic year June 2. Releasing the academic calendar, the board said half-yearly exams will be held from November 10 to 15, and pre-finals from January 19 to 24, 2026.
Institutions are expected to maintain 220 working days. Practical exams for IPE-2026 will be conducted in the first week of February, and theory exams are scheduled for the first week of March.
The Board said Dasara holidays will be from September 28 to October 5 and Sankranti holidays from January 11 to 18, 2026. The academic year ends on March 31, and colleges will reopen for 2026-27 on June 1, 2026.
