Hyderabad: HMWSSB is set to launch a ‘motor free tap water drive’ from Tuesday, under which officials will impose a 5,000 fine on consumers if they are found drawing water illegally by connecting motor pumps during supply time.
Officials will immediately confiscate the motors and blacklist the Consumer Account Number (CAN) if water board regulations are violated. As part of the initiative, the water board will implement four-phase inspections. In the first phase, linemen will check the supply lines and identify the water pressure and motor usage.
In the second phase, the section manager will check the water supply in the same line. If the motor is used, a fine of 5,000 will be imposed and the motor will be seized immediately. In the third and fourth phase, if any officer submits inaccurate reports without thorough inspection during any phase of the drive, they will undergo performance evaluation, receive a ranking, and be issued a memo.
