Newest sensation in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) is Chennai Super Kings (CSK) youngest opener Shaik Rasheed.
At 20 years and 202 days, Rasheed surpassed England’s Sam Curran, who opened for the five-time champions at 22 years and 132 days in 2020.
In his debut game, India former U-19 World Cup winner Shaik Rasheed scored 27 off 19 balls with six boundaries.
Rasheed has been around for past two seasons but got his debut only this year and the legendary former India captain seemed happy with what he saw.
“He has been with us for quite a few years (Shaik Rasheed). This year he has been batting really well in the nets against both pacers and spinners. It’s just the start. He has the capability to dominate with authentic shots,” the skipper said.
Who is Shaik Rasheed
Hailing from Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district, Rasheed posses strong batting skills.
He plays for the Andhra team in the Ranji Trophy (2021-22) and in the Syad Mustaq Ali Trophy (2022). After appearing in 19 First-Class matches, The right handed batter amassed 1204 runs. He also bowls right-arm leg spin.
