Drone Surveillance Deployed To Ease Traffic Congestion in Tirupati

TIRUPATI: To tackle heavy traffic congestion around the Tirupati Railway Station and other busy city areas, the district police have launched drone surveillance. This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve traffic management in high-density zones like Vishnu Nivasam.

Following instructions from District SP V Harshavardhan Raju, traffic police teams, led by Circle Inspectors Sanjeev Kumar and R. Vinod Kumar, monitored the area with drone cameras. They identified motorists engaging in reckless driving and observed jeeps using banned air horns, contributing to noise pollution.

“Violators were fined, and illegal horns were removed on the spot,” a police officer said. Police warned that repeat offences would result in strict legal action. Surveillance will continue across Tirupati district to monitor traffic violations.

Authorities stressed that the absence of visible police officers does not mean a lack of enforcement. Drone surveillance ensures constant monitoring of offenders, including those using illegal horns and disturbing public peace.

The new measures have been welcomed by locals and visitors, who praised the improved traffic regulation and safety, particularly around pilgrimage areas.
