Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday announced that the state government will present Gaddar Telangana Film Awards (GTFA) on June 14 at the HICC. Bhatti said the event will be organised on a grand scale, akin to international film award shows.
A total of 76 films and 1,172 individual nominations were submitted across 11 categories, including feature films, documentaries, children’s films, technical excellence, and more. Official entries were ceremoniously handed over to the jury chairperson.
GTFA will also include the presentation of lifetime achievement awards and prestigious honours such as the NTR National Film Award, Raghupathi Venkaiah Award, and others. One outstanding Telugu film from each year between 2014 and 2023 will be felicitated
The GTFA, instituted by the government in memory of revolutionary poet and balladeer Gaddar, aims to honour excellence in Telugu and Urdu cinema. Bhatti took part in the curtain raiser ceremony of GTFA awards which marked the formal commencement of the jury’s evaluation process. The awards are being revived after a 14-year hiatus, following Chief
Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s announcement last year to rename the Nandi Awards after Gaddar.
The curtain raising ceremony was attended by cinematography minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Telangana Film Development Corporation chairman Dil Raju, and veteran actress Jayasudha, who chairs the 15-member jury.
