I am happy to report that the bike made me delighted over the last long weekend(Good-Friday,easter), over a 1000 Km run covering long highways and some fantastic trails. I, along with my riding group, visited Bargur hills near Erode in TN from Chennai; and it gave me a great opportunity to test the limits of this bike.
On the highways, the performance of the bike was manic post 100kmph and would cruise at ease at speeds beyond that. I believe the bike can do 155-160 top speed, for sure.
Once at the destination, we decided to hit the forest trails and put our bikes through hours of hilly goat trails. The adv took it all in its stride, not once did it switch off and the suspension did a good job though I saddled it most of the time. I had customized the front fork to comfort setting (17 clicks for compression and 20 for rebound)and this was apt for the trails. I had left the rear suspension untouched, which if i had changed would surely have given a softer ride.
One negative during this trip was a loose screw in the headlight area, that created a rattling noise throughout the return trip. This was a major annoyance once the engine was running and I have rectified this today at the svc where they have wrapped the screw with a teflon material to arrest the vibes. Another observation that was unpleasant during this trip was the droning noise that these tyres make between 95-105 and this was quite prominent at these speeds. Not sure if this is a character of these tyres in general or specific to mine.
Overall, the bike did a great job on the highways and stood up to the cruising might of bigger machines like the Tiger 900 GT pro, Triumph Speed twin, Transalp 750, BMW GS850,etc. The biggest advantage of this bike is its dual capability, across both open roads and trails and the go anywhere attitude of this machine. Cheers.
