
A thunderstorm alert was issued for 14 districts in Telangana for Thursday (May 8, 2025).

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert in 14 districts of Telangana for Thursday (May 8, 2025), May 8. It warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at isolated locations.
The districts under the Alert Include Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad Malkajgiri, Sangareddy, and Medak.
A partly cloudy sky which could turn to generally cloudy by evening or night was forecast in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas over the next 48 hours, as per IMD’s alert issued on Wednesday (May 7, 2025) afternoon. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by gusty winds, are expected in the city later in the day.
With thunderstorms and rain in various parts of the State over the past few days, the maximum temperatures continued to drop. The highest temperature in the State on Tuesday (May 6, 2025) was 41.6°C, in Miryalguda of Nalgonda, which is a departure from over 45°C recorded in the State in April fourth week. Over 40°C was recorded in 17 districts., according to the data from Telangana Planning Development Society.
While the maximum temperature in Hyderabad and Medchal Malkajgiri was 38.6°C, it was 39.6°C in Rangareddy.
