Vijayawada: A major road accident occurred in the early hours of Monday near Agarala village in Chandragiri Mandal of Tirupati district. An RTC bus from the Tirumala depot, en route from Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu to Tirupati, lost control and crashed into a culvert near Narayana College on the Puthalapattu–Naidupeta national highway.According to Chandragiri CI Subbarami Reddy, more than 30 passengers sustained serious injuries in the crash.Local residents and Chandragiri police rushed to the spot and initiated rescue operations. The injured were quickly shifted to Ruia Hospital in Tirupati for treatment. Many of them were said to be hailing from Vellore.The accident took place around midnight on Sunday. With the full moon day falling on Monday, the RTC deployed additional buses to handle the heavy pilgrim rush from Tirupati to Tiruvannamalai. The return bus was reportedly carrying several devotees who took part in spiritual observances.A case was registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
