TDP alleges former APPSC chairman Gautam Sawang’s role in Group I exam irregularities

Vijayawada: Following the latest revelations in the probe on alleged irregularities in Group-1 evaluation and recruitment, the ruling TDP targeted Gautam Sawang, the then chairman of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). The biodiversity board chairman and official spokesperson of TDP, Neelayapalem Vijay Kumar, said that Sawang was equally involved as PSR Anjaneyulu, the then secretary of APPSC. He said that Sawang prematurely resigned from the constitutional post and fled as he knew about the repercussions of his wrongdoings.Vijay Kumarstated that Gautam Sawang ruined the careers of many APPSC candidates by blatantly lying to the High Court by submitting false details about re-evaluation. Being in a constitutional position, Sawang misled constitutional posts to appease his political masters at Tadepalli, said Vijay Kumar. In 2018, during the TDP regime, a notification was released for APPSC, and the subsequent YSRCP govt conducted the exams.Several petitions were filed before the High Court, contending mistakes in the question papers and also challenging computer evaluation instead of manual evaluation as mentioned in the notification. The High Court set aside the computer evaluation and directed a manual evaluation. However, the results between computer evaluation and manual evaluation showed a huge difference, which prompted many candidates to approach the High Court again. The manual evaluation was done again following the directions of the High Court, but in the process, there were allegations that the evaluation was done twice and the results of the second evaluation were withheld. The final lists were prepared by cherry-picking candidates favourable to the ruling dispensation. The probe initiated after the NDA govt came to power found various irregularities in the evaluation process. The Camsign company, which was given the contract for evaluation, hired ineligible people, including auto drivers, to evaluate Group-1 answer papers.Vijay Kumar said that it is evident that Sawang was equally involved in the scam and he should be held responsible along with Anjaneyulu and Camsign. Vijay Kumar wondered why the members of APPSC, who are also in constitutional positions, kept silent without raising objections to the corrupt practices of the Chairman and Secretary. He demanded the investigation agency probe and unearth the involvement of Sawang in the APPSC scam.
