Vijayawada: In the multi-crore liquor scam that allegedly took place during the previous YSRCP regime, two key accused — former CMO secretary Dhananjay Reddy and Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Krishna Mohan Reddy— appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for questioning on Wednesday.The duo, named as accused No. 31 and accused No. 32 in the case, were interrogated at the SIT office in Vijayawada.Their appearance came after the Supreme Court ordered a temporary halt on any action against them in the case until May 16. The two were summoned for questioning.According to sources, the SIT is probing their alleged roles in facilitating irregularities and favouritism in liquor distribution and supply chains during the YSRCP’s tenure, leading to massive financial misappropriations estimated to be over Rs 3,500 crore.The SIT recently expanded the list of accused, adding prominent names from the previous govt. Apart from Dhananjay and Krishna Mohan Reddy, Bharathi Cements’ director Govindappa Balaji was also named as Accused No. 33 and arrested on Tuesday. Balaji was produced before a Vijayawada court on Tuesday following his arrest by SIT officials.The scam, believed to have involved manipulation of liquor licenses, kickbacks, and ghost firms, has triggered political uproar in the state.
