IndiGo Expands Gulf Connectivity with New Routes to Bahrain and Oman Starting June 2025
India’s leading low-cost carrier, IndiGo Airlines, is set to significantly strengthen its presence across the Gulf region by launching three new international routes to key Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This latest expansion, scheduled to commence in mid-June 2025, underscores the airline’s strategic focus on enhancing connectivity between India and West Asia — a region that plays a vital role in IndiGo’s growing international network.
Bahrain Gains Direct Flights from Kochi and Hyderabad
Bahrain is set to benefit the most from IndiGo’s latest international expansion, with the launch of two direct connections from India. Beginning June 15, 2025, the airline will introduce a daily non-stop service linking Kochi to Bahrain, significantly enhancing air travel access between South India and the Gulf kingdom.
The outbound service, flight 6E1205, will depart Kochi at 07:30 pm IST and land in Bahrain at 09:20 pm local time. The return leg, flight 6E1206, is scheduled to depart Bahrain at 10:20 pm local time and arrive back in Kochi at 05:30 am IST the following morning. These flights will be operated using the Airbus A320, a fuel-efficient aircraft ideal for medium-haul routes.
This new Bahrain service will elevate Kochi’s international operations by IndiGo to a record eight daily departures, firmly establishing the city as a significant global gateway for the airline. The move also reflects IndiGo’s broader ambition to position Kochi as a central hub for international connections in South India.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad will also be directly connected to Bahrain beginning June 15, 2025, with four weekly flights operating on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. Flight 6E1207 will leave Hyderabad at 05:10 pm IST and touch down in Bahrain at 07:10 pm local time. The return service, flight 6E1208, will depart Bahrain at 08:10 pm local time and land in Hyderabad at 03:10 am IST the following day.
This new addition makes Bahrain the twelfth destination in the Gulf to be served from Hyderabad by IndiGo. With these connections, the airline continues to tap into the growing demand for direct flights between Indian cities and Gulf economic centers, driven by tourism, trade, and labor migration.
Chennai to Muscat Route Adds Another Gulf Link
Further enhancing its Gulf network, IndiGo will also launch a direct service from Chennai to Muscat, the capital of Oman. Operations are scheduled to begin on June 16, 2025, with three weekly frequencies that will link Tamil Nadu with one of the most frequented cities in the Gulf for Indian travelers.
The outbound flight 6E1203 will depart Chennai at 11:45 pm IST and arrive in Muscat at 02:35 am local time the next morning. The return leg, flight 6E1204, will depart Muscat at 01:50 pm local time and reach Chennai at 06:45 pm IST.
These flights are also set to be operated by the Airbus A320, with overnight outbound timings and convenient return schedules. The addition of this route not only boosts air access between Tamil Nadu and Oman but is expected to stimulate price competition and offer more flexibility to passengers — particularly the substantial population of blue-collar Indian workers commuting between these destinations.
