On Sunday, a devastating fire broke out in a building near the historic Charminar area of Hyderabad, resulting in 17 fatalities. Among the deceased were eight children and five women. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy promptly ordered a detailed investigation to determine the root cause of the blaze and emphasised the importance of preventive measures to avoid such tragedies in the future.
Following the incident, CM Reddy stayed in close contact with fire service and police officials, overseeing rescue efforts. He instructed state ministers and officials to rush to the site and expedite medical treatment for the injured at nearby hospitals. He personally spoke to the families of the victims to offer condolences and assured them of full government support.
The state government announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of those who lost their lives. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, along with ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Damodar Raja Narasimha, visited the site of the accident and Osmania Hospital, where the victims’ bodies were kept.
CM Reddy praised the prompt response of the Fire Services authorities, which helped prevent further casualties during the incident.
