Hyderabad: Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday said that after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, it was felt that a prime minister should be like Indira Gandhi. She not only protected the country but fought a war with Pakistan and broke it into twos. “One part is Bangladesh, and the other is Pakistan,” he said, addressing a public meeting in Achampet assembly constituency of Telangana.“Indiramma proved it (Pakistan can be defeated) 54 years ago.”However, he chose not to refer to any other prime minister in his speech and shifted his focus to the recently launched Soura Giri Jala Vikas Yojana, under which solar power pumps are distributed to tribal farmers. “We want to make tribal farmers live with self-respect by doing agriculture in patta lands given to them under the RoFR Act,” he said. “We will provide free of cost solar-based pumpsets, sprinklers, and solar panels to them to not only do agriculture but also produce solar energy and sell it to the govt.“Attacking the previous BRS govt, he said, “The former chief minister of the previous govt never visited any tribal village and never interacted with the tribals. In fact, tribal women were tied to trees and beaten up when they tried agriculture in their patta lands. The Congress then promised to do justice to them, and now it is implementing this scheme.”Revanth also said the vicious campaign being run with ill-gotten wealth on social media by the opposition against the Congress govt would not work in front of the truth. “The truth is that this Indiramma Rajyam is giving fine rice through ration shops to 3.1 crore beneficiaries, waiving off Rs 20,000 crore crop loans of 25 lakh farmers, extending 200 units of free electricity to 50 lakh poor families, and self-help groups of women have been given a 100 MW solar energy production contract and made owners of 600 buses given on hire to RTC.”
