Hyderabad: The Telangana high court issued directions suspending the orders of the Ombudsman of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), which had barred the City College Old Boys Association (CCOBA), Hyderabad, and instructed the HCA not to recognise the association.Justice V Eswaraiah, the Ethics Officer, who also holds an additional charge as the Ombudsman, issued orders against the CCOBA on May 7. A petition was moved by the CCOBA’s representative, Ansar Ahmed Khan, challenging the Ombudsman’s orders. Justice P Sam Koshy passed the directions, suspending the orders and posted the matter to June 30 for further hearing. The Ombudsman had passed the orders acting on a complaint filed by from Mohd Farooq, who claimed to be the secretary of the same club, against Ansar Ahmed Khan. As both parties raised serious disputes claiming ownership of the same club, the Ombudsman directed them to approach the concerned civil court and resolve the matter. The Ombudsman further directed the HCA not to recognise either party in matters related to the cricket association. Aggrieved by this order, Ansar Ahmed Khan approached the high court. His counsel contended that the Ombudsman did not have the jurisdiction to decide on such matters and urged the court to quash the Ombudsman’s order. They also urged the high court to pass directions allowing them to participate in the leagues, knockouts, annual general meeting or special general meeting, other meetings, functions, activities, matches, tournaments, and rights of affiliated clubs organised by the HCA.
