Vijayawada: TDP has been at the forefront to respond to grievances of Telugu people, TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh said in his address to delegates on the first day of the three-day Mahanadu in Kadapa on Tuesday. Noting that time has come to mould the party to keep pace with changing times, he said key policy changes must be introduced in line with TDP’s core principles to meet the current needs of people. The IT and HRD minister presented his six-point formula to expand and strengthen the party’s support base, not just in the state but also globally. “Our party was founded to stand by farmers, to address the struggles of workers, and with the goal of providing the poor with basic necessities like healthy meals, clothes to wear, and a solid house to live in. While many parties have emerged with caste and regional agendas, TDP was established for the sake of the Telugu nation,” said Lokesh.Recalling that TDP has seen many hardships in its 43-year-long journey, he said neither being in power nor in opposition is new to the party. “However, TDP is and will always be the first to respond when Telugu people face difficulties. Our party’s founder, Anna garu (NTR) had said that the society itself is a temple, and people are its gods. From party supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu to every party worker, the entire party is engaged in serving people in one way or the other,” Lokesh added. The IT and HRD minister said TDP has been giving meaningful representation to the youth in Telugu politics. “As many as 88 out of 164 MLAs are first-time winners, which is a strong sign of generational change in leadership. We have attracted numerous industries to generate employment since coming to power, while 16,347 teacher posts will be filled in June through the mega DSC recruitment drive. Our target is to create 20 lakh jobs for the youth across diverse sectors,” he said.
