Hyderabad: The Standing Committee of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has unanimously approved floating of new tenders for the maintenance of LED streetlights.
Until the new agency is awarded the contract, arrangements are being made for taking up the maintenance of streetlights. The procurement and repairs will be taken up by the GHMC through six zonal commissioners. As the existing contract with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) for LED streetlight maintenance ending, the municipal corporation’s electrical wing had placed two options before the Standing Committee.
In the first option, it was suggested to renew the agreement with EESL under revised terms, while in the second option, fresh tenders will be invited to select a new agency through a transparent process for the comprehensive operation and maintenance of the streetlights.
The electrical wing of the GHMC pointed out the shortcomings of EESL to the members of the Standing Committee and informed them that the proposed tender should contain new terms and conditions. The upkeep will also cover phase-wise replacement or installation of existing streetlights with new LED streetlights as well as central control and monitoring system (CCMS) boxes and related infrastructures.
