Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao has welcomed the rejection of the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) report by L&T and termed the development as a slap in the face for the ruling Congress and BJP.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the former Minister alleged that the NDSA report was prepared without conducting minimum tests or collecting scientific data, and that it was part of a conspiracy to damage the BRS. He said that the report was prepared at the behest of the Congress and BJP which are pursuing a cruel political agenda.
“The people have once again come to know that the entire report given by NDSA on Medigadda Barrage is a hoax,” KTR said, adding that the BRS had been saying this all along, and now the truth has come out.
Flaying Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for ‘ignoring the Kaleshwaram project’, he demanded that the government and NDSA should stop throwing mud at Kaleshwaram and answer the objections of L&T.
KTR also demanded that the Chief Minister apologise to the farmers and take immediate steps to repair the Medigadda Barrage.
Mr. Rao also warned that if the government does not take action, farmers will teach a befitting lesson to the conspiracy politics being played by the Chief Minister along with the Congress-BJP on the Kaleshwaram project.
Meanwhile, former Vice-Chairman of the State Planning Board Boinpally Vinod Kumar has expressed similar views, adding that he had already stated the NDSA report was not necessary to undertake the repair and restoration works of the Medigadda barrage, part of the KLIS.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan here on Wednesday, the former MP had slammed the Congress government for not taking up the repair works. “Due to no storage in the Medigadda barrage, the water in the Godavari River was wasted since it became part of the sea,” he said.
The senior BRS leader claimed that no damage had been done to either the Annaram or the Sundilla barrage, which are part of the KLIS. He also said that the government should take immediate steps to repair the Medigadda barrage without further delay for the benefit of the farming community.
