Particularly among Telugu people, daughters and mothers are held in deep affection and high esteemVijayawada: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday strongly condemned the “disgraceful remarks” made by a television commentator targeting women in the capital region and calling Amaravati a “capital of prostitutes”. “There can be no tolerance to the appalling comments that demean the women of the capital region by likening them to prostitutes — an outright insult to their dignity. I strongly condemn this perverse trend being perpetuated under the cover of politics,” the CM fumed. He said the state govt will not tolerate such people and warned them to be ready to face the consequences. In a strongly worded statement, Naidu expressed dismay that the people of Andhra Pradesh, despite delivering a strong verdict against such toxic culture in the recent elections, continue to witness the same behaviour from YSRCP. “Ours is a culture that honours daughters. The chief minister said those who crossed all boundaries and wounded the sentiments of women in the capital region will face the strictest possible consequences. “This is a malicious conspiracy against Amaravati. The derogatory and deliberate insults aimed at the women of that region — who protested against the previous destructive regime — are not just attacks on individuals, but an affront to womanhood itself,” he said, while adding that the the NDA govt, which respects women and stands as a guardian of their self-respect, takes full responsibility to put an end to this “vile culture”.Meanwhile, TDP parliamentary party leader and Narasaraopet MP Lavu Krishna Devarayalu wrote a letter to the National Commission of Women, seeking action against those who made the disparaging comments.
