The box office in the Summer could not generate huge collections, and no film emerged as a winner. As the Monsoon season is about to arrive, the postponement of Hari Hara Veera Mallu resulted in the transfer of hopes to Kubera. Starring Dhanush in the main lead role, and directed by Sekhar Kammula, the film also features Nagarjuna Akkineni in a crucial role.
Sekhar Kammula has delivered classic hits, feel-good entertainers, and soft movies so far. Although he achieved commercial hits, he has not tested his full potential in a full-blown commercial potboiler. However, Kubera seems to satisfy this hunger. The trade, fans, and the film industry pinned big hopes on the success of Kubera.
The film has a universally appealing story of how a beggar climbs up the ladder to become a crorepati. The challenges that he faced in this journey form the story. While Jim Sarbh plays a crorepati in the film and Dhanush essays a beggar, Nagarjuna will be seen in a role common to both characters.
The film is headlined by a Tamil star who enjoys a good fan base in Telugu. However, the grand openings in the Telugu states depend on how Nagarjuna’s role is promoted. The Akkineni fans are eagerly waiting for the film, but how they receive the film on the first day depends on how Nagarjuna is portrayed in the trailer and other subsequent promotional events.
Having said that, the film also benefits from Rashmika Mandanna’s glamour and Devi Sri Prasad’s music. If the content works, Kubera will shower collections at the ticket windows. Sekhar Kammula, who has a lot of class touch, has also added commercial and action elements this time. Since it is Sekhar Kammula’s film, there will be a set of audiences who would not miss the movie with which the slight drizzle is already confirmed but all we need now is raining revenues!
Kubera is all set for a grand release on June 20th.
