Ram Chander Naik gets Dy Speaker post

Warangal: Doctor-turned-politician Jatoth Ram Chander Naik, the Dornakal MLA, may have missed the minister post in Sunday’s Cabinet expansion, but was rewarded with the Deputy Speaker post.

His name has been doing the rounds for a minister post ever since the Cabinet expansion was talked about. It’s said that Ram Chander Naik missed the minister post by a whisker as caste and regional equations didn’t favour him.

It may be mentioned here that Konda Surekha and Seethakka are already in the Cabinet from the erstwhile Warangal district. Ram Chander Naik, who lost the 2014 and 2018 Assembly elections, was third-time lucky when he ended the extended run of Redya Naik by a whopping margin of 53,131 votes in 2023. Later, he was appointed as the Government Whip by Revanth Reddy. Naik, who hails from Bommakal Thanda under Pedda Vangara mandal in Mahabubabad district, did his MBBS and MS (General Medicine) at Osmania University.

He established a hospital in Suryapet. From his student days, Ram Chander Naik was interested in politics, and he worked with the TDP’s student wing while studying for his MBBS.
