Suryapet: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, along with Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, on Monday flagged off 45 electric buses at Suryapet bus depot.
Interestingly, despite the uproar and criticism over increased TGSRTC pass fares, he claimed that the Congress government’s efforts had saved the corporation. Since the launch of the Mahalakshmi scheme, TGSRTC issued 182 crore free tickets to women, with the State paying Rs 6,088 crore on their behalf, he said.
Bhatti said battery buses were boosting RTC revenue and helping curb pollution. Of the 79 sanctioned to Suryapet depot, 45 were launched in a single day. He also highlighted the rollout of 2,800 battery buses within Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road to reduce urban pollution.
