Prostitution racket in Banjara Hills busted


A prostitution racket operating in the Banjara Hills area was busted by the officials of the Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone and Banjara Hills police on Tuesday night. Six persons, including three customers, were arrested while four women were rescued from the premises.

Acting on a tip-off, the team raided the location around 9.30 p.m. and arrested Kummetha Narender Reddy, 30, the organiser of the operation. A resident of Road No. 12, Banjara Hills and a native of Anantapur district, Reddy had been running the brothel by recruiting women for sex work and arranging customers through his own network. He is said to have charged between ₹4,000 to ₹5,000 per customer, paying the women a fixed salary.

Two staff members from Bihar, Anand Kumar, 30, and Rahul Kumar, 26, who were working as servants in the house, were also taken into custody.

The police seized ₹26,500 in cash and seven mobile phones from the scene. All rescued women have been moved to a shelter home and are receiving assistance.
