Full court farewell accorded to outgoing Justice K Surender | Hyderabad News


Hyderabad: Acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul on Friday commended the efforts of Justice K Surender, who, with his legal acumen and expertise in criminal law, delivered as many as 22,622 judgments during his short stint as a judge of the Telangana High Court. The full bench of the High Court bid farewell to Justice Surender, who is being transferred to the Madras High Court.“As a member of several administrative committees, he assisted me effectively in the administration of the High Court,” said Justice Sujoy. Advocate General A Sudarshan Reddy praised Justice Surender’s professional approach, which significantly contributed to the disposal of a large number of criminal appeals. State Bar Council chairman A Narasimha Reddy, Public Prosecutor Palle Nageswar Rao, several registrars, advocates, and family members of the outgoing judge were in attendance. Later, numerous advocates from the High Court Advocates’ Association felicitated Justice Surender and recalled his selfless service to the legal profession and the cause of justice.Earlier, G Anil Kiran Kumar, an advocate practising at the High Court, launched a book detailing Justice Surender’s contributions, noting that his transfer would be a significant loss to the Telangana High Court.In his farewell remarks, Justice Surender expressed gratitude to the judges, lawyers, court staff, and his family for their support throughout his career.He shared a personal anecdote about how he narrowly missed becoming a pilot. The central govt’s interview board had disqualified him due to a supposed cardiac issue. However, a subsequent examination at Apollo Hospital confirmed that his heart was perfectly healthy. “Though I was initially disappointed, I later realised that destiny had better plans for me,” he reflected.
