Congress BJP’s main rival, will contest local polls independently: Kishan

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP chief and Union minister G Kishan Reddy, on Sunday, stated that Congress is the BJP’s main rival and that they will contest the upcoming local elections independently, without forming any alliances.Speaking informally to the media at the party office, he said: “Why should we justify ourselves regarding the baseless claims made by a few individuals suggesting a tactical understanding between Congress and the BJP? We have been fighting against corruption and dynasty politics, which Congress embodies.”He then asked if anyone could name the next BJP president, noting that everyone knows who the next BRS president will be. “This highlights the difference between the BJP and other parties,” he added. He also mentioned that the rule requiring a party president to have been an active member for ten years does not apply to Eatala Rajender, since he is a senior leader and MP.Kishan Reddy emphasised that, during the local body elections, the BJP will focus on local issues and inform the public about the party’s contributions to villages. On the subject of freebies, he said, “The BJP is not against providing freebies, but any schemes must be formulated in accordance with the state’s financial circumstances.”He explained that Andhra Pradesh is receiving funds in accordance with the AP Reorganisation Act 2014, citing projects such as the turmeric board, the railway coach factory and the Zaheerabad industrial corridor. He also criticised Congress leaders for taking credit for these achievements.Kishan Reddy mentioned that many film personalities have expressed their support for the BJP. He stated that the Tollywood actor Chiranjeevi is on good terms with him. “If anyone is interested in joining the BJP, I would be eager to invite them. I have a good rapport with Chiranjeevi,” he said, suggesting that the actor would join the party if invited.
